How to fight the Covid blues with these 5 activities

I don’t know where you are reading this post from, but if it’s in Canada, you know the situation is not looking good! While some countries were able to reduce their cases or even eliminate Covid, we are entering another quarantine. Since last March we really weren’t able to do much except in summer. And now, almost a year later, we are going into our second full lockdown, which is so bad, especially for our mental health! If you are in a similar situation, I found a few activities you can try to feel better and forget the pandemic for a few hours! Or new habits you could adopt that would completely change your energy.

Have a routine-ish.

If there is one thing I find helps a lot with keeping my spirit up is to wake up and sleeping at the same time daily. And waking up early gives you the opportunity to take your time and not be in a rush! Wake up, make a delicious coffee, make an amazing breakfast, do some yoga or meditation, go for a morning walk, start your day right. Have your lunch at a similar time as well as your dinner.

Even if you are just staying home, it’s important to have something to look forward too, even if it’s just a small walk in the morning. And it doesn’t have to be a walk, it could be reading or drawing or painting. It’s all up to you!

Learn a new skill

Staying home and not having a thousand responsibilities gives you the perfect opportunity to learn a new skill. I know we all want to learn something new, but never find the time. Whether it’s a new language, learn to cook or painting, this is your time! We don’t often get this chance and instead of seeing Covid as a bad thing we should see what it gives us!

Go into nature

Bike in the forest, walk in parks, hike mountains are just a few examples of activities that can literary make everything better! There is a reason behind this! Nature or rather, the view of it, have a great impact on your emotional wellbeing as well as physical one! To name a few it can reduce anger, fear, stress, and reduce blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension, and lastly the production of stress hormones. So go out, breathe some fresh air, admire how beautiful our nature is!

It’s me time!

Did you ever find yourself so busy with life that you don’t even get the time to do your skincare routine? Or you take 5 min showers because you have a list of stuff you still have to do? I can totally relate to this! And so, being under lockdown, I can finally put on a mask and relax! I can take a bath and meditate! For the first time in year, I don’t have do feel guilty to do things for me. And believe me, it’s a great feeling!

Stay in touch

Just because you are far from your friends and family, doesn’t mean you should stay in your corner without any social interaction! We are, after all, social creatures! Even I, as an introvert, I’m starting to feel the loneliness. I can’t imagine how introverts, who needs others energy, are feeling at this time! It’s time to utilize all the social apps created, whether it’s zoom or whatsapp, let’s get connected!

I hope these simple activities will help you feel better! Let me know in the comments below what do you do during these uncertain time and how are passing by the time? I would you to know! You can read a guide to self care I wrote earlier here, there is a few advice that are super relevant even during Covid!

Until next time,
