The city that never sleep! Walking in between the gigantic buildings idsfbn a sea of people all trying to get to places! The place where dreams get fulfilled or hopes gets crushed… My friends and I went on a little getaway recently to New York and I wanted to share some bits with you! Let start with a few art pieces!
You can see pieces of art all over the city. Everything can be drawn on and the result is magnificent! The “inspired by you” was painted on some garage doors down the 330 West Street facing the Pier 40. Found that gems while we were lost and I still can’t find any info on it such as the artist or the reason for the painting but it’s pretty and deserves the mention.
“Big City of Dreams” by Tristan Eaton, located in Soho, Little Italy, is unavoidable. It was part of the Lisa Project in 2015 and you can find it all over the US. He also painted the Audrey Hepburn a few block from the “Big City of Dreams” which is also worth seeing. Lastly, the artist Eduardo Kobra created the “Ellis – Immigrants” mural in the West Village where you can see the faces of 5 immigrant that came to the US more than a 100 year ago. This last piece of art is if I’m not mistaken the biggest mural in New York city to this day!
Now onto the view!
Obviously to go in and out of manhattan you have to take bridges and if you have the chance to walk a bridge do it! The view is just phenomenal. The Brooklyn bridge is a must. Go early so you can snap some cute pictures without a crowed messing it up for you. I can just imagine looking at a sunrise whilst standing in the middle of the bridge. Looking at buildings and bridges really made me realize how tiny I was.
In the last few years, the Dumbo district became so popular (maybe it always was and I just started to notice) so we had to stop there as well. The Humphrey family lived close by there and being the fan that I am, the whole neighborhood felt familiar. And if you feel like trying something else mainstream, go to time square. I felt like I was coming out of an American movie.
Other things worth mentioning!
What we also got a chance to see was the color factory! It a colorful exhibition where you have different activities all color related. It’s one hour but you can stay as long as you want. They give you candies, pastry and ice cream during the tour and who hasn’t dreamed to bathe in a ball pit in their adult life? Also they will give you a map of a few spots you can hit to discover the city through the colors.
Also if you have been following me and read some of my older posts or followed me on IG you know FRIENDS is my all time favorite show ever! I live by their quotes and I included myself in the friends gang a long time ago! So going to their apartment is a dream come true! It’s one of the only places that was actually filmed in New York and not LA, in their studios.
