Honest review of the Isle of Paradise Self-Tanning drops

The 3 C’s in life: choice, chance, change. You must make the choice, to take the chance, if you want anything in life to change.

As a North African living in Canada, I noticed that the long cold winters were affecting my skin negatively in terms of paleness and dullness. Two years ago, I really needed a boost of color and glow during the cold season; and that is how I found the Isle of Paradise self-tanning drops. I wasn’t a fan of self-tanners for the longest time; to this day, the only one I like is this one.

You can purchase the Isle of paradise on Sephora or on the companies website for about $22. It comes in 3 shades (light, medium, and dark). We all have different skin colors and need different degrees of tanning. I personally got mine in the medium shade, and in the previous years, I used to use the light shade. Another awesome point of the drops is that it can easily be built up for extra darkness. Even if you take the lighter shade, you can add more drops into your hydrating cream, and the color will be darker.

These drops are cruelty-free, vegan, and organic. They are great for dry and dull skin, giving it the extra glow it needs.

Ingredients of the Isle of Paradise.

  • Coconut Oil: hydrates and smooths the skin.
  • Avocado Oil: a fast-absorbing skin conditioning agent.
  • Chia Seed Oil: improves skin hydration and maintain skin barrier function.
  • Eucalyptus Clobulus Leaf Oil for the fragrance.

How long does it take for Isle of Paradise tan drops to work?

I read before purchasing the product that it took about 6 hours for the tan to develop. I usually apply the drops to my night cream and sleep with it so when I wake up in the morning, I’m tan and ready to go! The great thing about these drops is that they do not stain my pillowcases or sheets compared to other traditional self-tanners. In theory, you could even apply the drops in the morning before you go and you will just get darker throughout the day.

How long does Isle of Paradise Tanning drops last?

In my experience, after 1 application, your tan will slowly fade out within 3 to 4 days. If you apply it consistently, it can last up to a week. And the fade will be very natural without any patches. You should definitely exfoliate before you apply the drops to make it last longer on your skin. It will also help if you apply it to a smooth surface, meaning if you have some peach fuzz on your face or body hair, you might want to remove it before applying the self-tanner.

How to use isle of paradise drops?

Easy, peasy. You apply between 2 to 12 drops, mixed with your favorite moisturizer. Leave it for 6 hours, and it will slowly develop. Don’t forget to exfoliate before applying the product and also to wash your hand afterward. I usually apply 4 drops, and it gives me exactly the shade I want, as you can see in the pictures below. I could go a lot darker if needed or even lighter depending on the events happening in my life. Also if you use it for your body, you will need more drops to cover every part. I would suggest 7 to 8 drops for a golden look.

Before and After pictures of the Isle Paradise Tanning drops

These before and after pictures were taken almost at the same time a day apart. Only 4 drops were used and no makeup or filter was applied so you can see the difference properly!
