Take Care of your Skin!

In a polite society, a well maintained skincare routine is one of life’s great successes. – Violet Grey

Am actually the worst at skincare! Especially around this period of the year, bouncing between work and school, trying to have good grades, excel at work, see my friends and family… So you can imagine skin care is the least of my problem! The worst thing is that I really love taking care of my skin but when you add everything up, it’s hard to do everything.

One thing I learned a long time ago is that skin care is not only about what you put on your skin but also what you put into your body. With good habits, you can get away with a very short skincare routine.

Daily, I only use makeup remover, cleanser, and hydrating cream. But I did change my habits to be healthier and it shows on my skin (except for my dark circles but that a whole different problem!)

The first habit is to sleep enough every night. 2 years ago I had a really bad sleeping pattern during stressful moments where I would sleep 2 to 3 hours a night for a few weeks at the time. This effect your collagen growth, skin hydration, causes acne outburst and so many more skin problems. Beauty sleep is a real thing! You should aim to sleep 7 to 9 hours a night to feel refreshed and generally be in better shape.

The second habit is to keep a healthy lifestyle. Get your butt to the gym and train! Go for a run or even a walk, breath the fresh air… This will help your blood flow. By increasing it, you help nourish your blood cells and keep them vital. The oxygen and nutrients will circulate throughout your body and you get what people call the post-workout glow! Exercising also eases your stress level which brings me to my next point.

Reduce your stress levels. I swear every time I start stressing for something I get a pimple on my forehead. It’s not really about deleting everything stressful in your life because that’s just wishful thinking but more of how you react to it. Take some time to meditate a few minutes a day or do some yoga. You should control yourself and not let stress control you.

Lastly, have a healthy diet. Whatever you put in your body will reflect on your skin. Have balanced meals. Make sure you eat your veggies, vitamin C and E are a must, water is unavoidable. Don’t skip meals and don’t eat late at night.

It’s okay if you don’t have time for a fancy shmancy skincare routine all the time. But these little tricks will help you to get a generally better skin without too much effort and will give you a healthier lifestyle. I feel a lot more accomplished when I’m able to do all the things I stated above.

Let me know if you do something different to keep your skin looking good without putting a million products on your face!

With Love,

Sofyah.
