Who can tell you the best ways to survive winter, better than a Canadian? I was getting my winter stuff out this weekend and had the idea to come here and tell you all about my tips, tricks, and must-haves on how to survive winter. And that’s coming from a girl who despises winter and the cold.
A few years back, I realized that if I have to go through almost 6 months of cold I might try to adapt to it and enjoy it as much as any other season. And who knows, maybe after reading these tips and tricks, you will also enjoy winter.
Fashion must-haves to survive winter!
Something my mom used to always tell me is that there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing. For the longest time, I only cared about being fashionable and I hated the fact that I would see so many influencers post their fabulous winter outfit of the day not taking into consideration that we do not have the same winters. They were dressing for a -10 degree but I had to dress for a -40 degree. Basically, I was always underdressed! So I came up with these fashion essentials to survive winter and try to stay as warm as possible!
Winter is all about staying warm, and let’s face it – doing it with a touch of style makes it even better! That’s where the trusty turtleneck swoops in as your winter BFF. It’s not just a cozy piece; it’s like a warm hug for your neck in chilly weather. But here’s the fun part – the turtleneck is your wardrobe’s chameleon. Throw it under a winter coat for extra warmth or let it shine solo for that effortlessly chic vibes. Either way, it’s perfect for layering and adapting yourself to different weathers.
I love this one from Amazon, 95% cotton, so nice to the touch, and perfect to protect your sensitive skin! I have them in 4 neutral colors, allowing me to diversify my wardrobe as much as possible and still stay super warm.
2. Fleece-lined leggings.
Say goodbye to winter chills and hello to cozy warmth with fleece-lined leggings. These snug wonders offer a double dose of comfort, blending the stretchy flexibility of leggings with the insulating power of fleece. I love them for outdoor activities, whether ice skating, hiking, or even going on a walk. But I also love them for my day-to-day life. I wear them in the office, to run my errands, or even as an underlayer when needed. So, if you’re ready to upgrade your winter wardrobe game, don’t miss out on the magic of fleece-lined leggings!
Technologie must-haves to survive winter!
Clothing can get you this far but at some point, you will need some extra help and why not utilize modern-day technology to help you out? These following products were a God send and a game changer for my winter lifestyle.
3. Electronic Hand Warmers.
If you are anything like me, your hands are probably the first thing to freeze in the winter and that’s just not fun! You are stuck not feeling your hands and you know it will hurt when they will unfreeze. To change that I got these marvelous electronic hand warmers. So say goodbye to icy hands and hello to feeling warm and toasty! But that’s not all – these electronic hand warmers also double as a portable phone charger, ensuring your devices stay powered up even in the coldest weather.
You will not catch me outside without them!
4. Rechargeable heated socks.
We covered our hands now we need to make sure our feet are taken care of as well. I use these rechargeable heated socks every time I stay outside for a long period of time. If you’re outdoorsy but tend to get cold fast, this is a game changer. I am amazed at how the battery life will allow me to stay out comfortably for hours and that I can control the temperature through my phone. I personally don’t wear them every day but best believe if I’m skiing, hiking, or camping, they are on my feet. Even having them at the lowest setting helps me a lot more than not having them at all!
5. Light therapy lamp.
Nothing gets me more depressed than noticing the darkness at 4:30 pm. It is absolutely horrible when you leave your house in the morning in darkness and then have to come back home in darkness again. I did a lot of research on luminotherapy to find out its importance and if I should invest in it. I wasn’t sure if a therapy lamp would be useful and impactful in my life but it appears that it is!
As someone who works long hours and often in the evenings, this lamp has been so helpful in regulating my mood.
To survive winter and colder temperatures, you need a humidifier to maintain a healthy and comfortable indoor environment. In the winter, the air lacks humidity, which can lead to dry skin, irritated nasal passages, and an overall sense of discomfort.
By releasing moisture into the air, a humidifier helps combat the drying effects of indoor heating systems, keeping your skin hydrated and relieving congestion. Honestly, no one wants to spend the winter months feeling sick with a runny nose. The healthier you feel, the happier you will be.
I have this humidifier from Amazon that I absolutely love for myself and for my plants. I keep it in my room throughout the whole night and I put it for my plants on the colder night to create a more humid environment. It lasts for a long time, you can choose the intensity and it’s super easy to clean up. It’s one of my best in-house gadgets.
